Day 164: Micah 1-4

A few passages from the first four chapters of Micah struck me as interesting. As I read this first one I found myself thinking that it may be referring to the 400 years or so between the testaments wherein there seems to be no word at all from the Lord...
This is what the LORD says:
   “As for the prophets
   who lead my people astray,
they proclaim ‘peace’
if they have something to eat,
but prepare to wage war against anyone
   who refuses to feed them.
Therefore night will come over you, without visions,
   and darkness, without divination.
The sun will set for the prophets,
and the day will go dark for them.
The seers will be ashamed
   and the diviners disgraced.
They will all cover their faces
because there is no answer from God.” (3:5-7)
Then there's this one about how dishonest and corrupt even many of the prophets have become:
Her leaders judge for a bribe,
her priests teach for a price,
and her prophets tell fortunes for money.
Yet they look for the LORD’s support and say,
“Is not the LORD among us?
No disaster will come upon us.” (3:11)
That one made me think about how many times we make plans and strategies for the work of the Kingdom and then ask God to bless our plans. Maybe we have that backwards. Maybe we should be asking God to show us where we fit into His plans.

Once again we find the prophet looking far into the future. The captivity hasn't happened yet and he's already prophesying about their return from captivity...
“In that day,” declares the LORD,
   “I will gather the lame;
   I will assemble the exiles
and those I have brought to grief.
I will make the lame my remnant,
those driven away a strong nation.
The LORD will rule over them in Mount Zion
from that day and forever. (4:6-7)
